Laptop Repair – Why Your Screen Isn’t Working
Laptop repair is a common problem, and often the first thing people think is wrong with their computers is that their screens don’t work. The good news is that a lot of times this is simply an easy fix.
You’ll want to start by turning the computer on and attempting to use it. Make sure that it is plugged into a power source that is the right wattage and type for your particular model of laptop. Also, it may be as simple as a USB drive or memory card being left in the laptop and preventing the operating system from booting up.
Understanding and Troubleshooting Laptop Overheating
A roll of high-temperature Kapton tape is a must-have item in any Laptop repair kit. This is a high-performance polyimide tape with silicone adhesive and it’s great for securing loose cables, covering internal connectors, and masking heat-sensitive components during soldering.
If the computer is able to power on, but the screen remains black or has blurry lines on it, it is probably time to replace the screen. You can do this yourself by removing the old screen, replacing it with a new one, and reattaching the bezel. To do this, find the screw covers (usually rubber) on the plastic frame of the laptop and remove them with a screwdriver. Then remove the old screen and replace it with the new one, making sure to connect the video cable to the back of the display.
